Thomas Francis Gillespie, born 15 Dec 1828 near Mallow, County Cork, Ireland, was the son of John and Eliza (Sheehan) Gillespie. He died 9 Aug 1893. He came to NB in 1848 and settled at Chatham, Northumberland County. In 1855 he married Elizabeth Cormack, born 1836, the daughter of Alexander Cormack and Ruth Pattison Hewson. She died 14 Jan 1897. They had one son and four daughters:
Frances Gillespie became a businesswoman, one daughter married James S. Girvan.
