Cornelius McMonagle, born – , died c1824, came from Ireland to Halifax, NS with his two brothers in the late 1700’s. He came to NB in the early 1800’s and settled at Sussex Vale, Kings County. He married Anne Scott, born 1771, the daughter of Robert Scott of Salisbury Parish, Westmorland County.
Cornelius’ will lists the following sons:

3) Hugh McMonagle born 1817, d. 12 Oct 1889, married (1st) Margaret Roach b. 1822, d. 10 Jun 1859: had six children: m. (2nd) Mary Roach, a cousin of Margaret, b. 1822, d. 23 Feb 1890: had two children
4) John McMonagle
5) Henry McMonagle
6) Joseph McMonagle
7) Douglas McMonagle
8) Cornelius McMonagle Jr.

Cornelius Sr.’s brother Hugh McMonagle b. – , died 6 Feb 1803 also came to NB, married Phoebe Pierce born 1775, died 1866 and settled at Port Elgin, Westmorland County.
