Passenger List: THE THETIS OF TROON – Passengers aboard, Cork to Bathurst, New Brunswick April 1837.

The list here printed is from the Provincial Archives of New Brunswick (PANB), Fredericton, New Brunswick, reference RBS: Immigration General 1834-1845. It lists the crew and passengers of the THETIS OF TROON which left Cork on the 12th April 1837 bound for Bathurst, on the Bay Chaleur, in New Brunswick.

We certify that the ship Thetis of Troon, Robert Hamilton Master, has been cleared for Bay Chaleur and that the above mentioned number of Passengers have embarked therein under the sanction of His Majesty’s Government, and that the said Master is hereby noticed that if the number actually embarked exceed that herein specified, this Certificate will become null, and an extra Duty of Five Shillings a head be applicable to the whole number. Instead of only those who are not included in the list.

This is a two-part passenger list. The first is the ‘official’ list as presented by the Captain to port officials on arrival; the second is a list of ‘ non -registered’ passengers gleaned from the sick lists after landing.

List of Passengers on Board the “Eliza Liddell” from Lord Palmerston’s Estates in the County of Sligo( 3June/27 July). These tenants were sent to the port of Sligo to board ships chartered by the Lord’s Agent, Mr. S. Maxwell.

N.B.: the name Corny might well be Conroy as spelled in the sick list by Doctor Gordon, of Bathurst N.B. as first names and ages match, and the Doctor was a learned man.

‘ UNOFFICIAL ‘ List of Passengers on Board the “Eliza Liddell”, who came from either Lord Palmerston’s Estates and/or came from the poor of the port of Sligo or the surronding area, who have been receiving aid at Public Expense in the County of Gloucester, as SICK AND DESTITUDE EMIGRANTS.
