Kings County Gaol
Established in 1967 and operated by the Kings County Historical and Archival Society, Inc. the museum is located at Hampton Station on Centennial Road, directly behind the courthouse, in the Hampton Town office building. Housed in two buildings, two-thirds of the collection is exhibited in the old Kings County Gaol next door and consists of early Kings County life. The cells are intact and set in themes: bedrooms, kitchen, creamery, school room, early tools and the cell of The Mysterious Stranger – Henry More Smith. The Main Museum exhibits Deichmann pottery, early quilts, including the “Confederation Quilt”, glassware, a doll collection, a brass bell collection and changing displays for each season.
